The following is what PWI had to say about the match: "In addition to being one of the most dramatic and emotional bouts of the decade, it was also a symbolic changing of the guard and a fitting sendoff for Flair, arguably the top wrestler of the second half of the 20th century. Other matches during the 2000s may have been more physical or high-flying, but this match had the emotion and the incredible energy of nearly 75,000 fans hanging on every move." Runner-ups for match of the decade include Shawn Michaels vs Kurt Angle at WrestleMania 21, Hollywood Hogan vs. The Rock at WrestleMania X8, Kurt Angle vs. Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XIX, Shawn Michaels vs The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXV, and Shawn Michaels vs. Triple H vs. Chris Benoit at WrestleMania XX. I understand, but Hogan and the Rock as a runner up? The edge with that one was nostalgia, grand moment jazz, but comparing it wrestling wise to the other runner ups, come on. Also, the reporter made a typo. Shawn and Flair was WM24, funny. Personally, I'd put 'Taker and Shawn from 'ManiaXXV as MOTD

Hardy Favorite Female Wrestlers Mickie James, Hamada, Awesome Kong, Natalya Neidha Favorite Wrestling Move Shooting Star Press	I agree Thrash I think 'Taker Shawn was the greatest match I've ever seen... I wish I would have watched Shawn and The Undertaker in the '90s... It would have been great but I was watching WCW at the time...

TWF Lower-Midcarder Posts: 120 Group: Members Member #815 Joined: Jun 21, 2009 Preferred WWE TV Show Raw Preferred Promotion WWE Favorite Male Wrestlers Shawn Michaels	I think the reason i have Austin vs Rock WM17 as my MOTD, is because when i saw Taker/Shawn, i hadnt seen a wrestling match in nearly 2 years, but i knew when it was over, it was going to be talked about for years. I knew it was a 5 star match, but i didnt think anyone else would love it more than it could possibly be. I suppose i was wrong. When i saw Austin/Rock 2, i was really into the WM17 show, the atmosphere was great, it was comedic, it was real WRASSLIN, and it made me feel like a 10 year old kid in the audience marking out. Althoug Austin and Rock are not even in my Top 5 favorite wrestlers, that match also showed me that the chemistry they had in the ring was unmatched to other wrestlers in the 00s decade, in my opinion.
