Revival of a thread from the past, please pin (Pala you oughta remember this one) Discuss who you believe is overrated and underrated on the WWE roster, pick one wrestler for each and provide your opinion. Provide some kind of backup and don't just spew blind hatred against someone or mark out fanboy-style. If you don't agree with someone's opinion just post your own over/under thoughts in contradiction, let's not turn this into a debate. |

Overrated: Jeff Hardy A total poster boy on SD, CM Punk said so. The problem is he is a watered down form of his old tag team days, where he was really charismatic, where he was enigmatic. In total truth from me, Jeff is an overrated, overhyped, piece of dog shit. By watered down, age included, his execution of moves have been weaker, the amount of skills he impliments in matches have decreased, his gimmick swagger has dropped dramatically where it is clear that he doesn't care. Inevitably, he will go over. How many times has he gone over Edge? Boatloads! The sad thing is people actually cheer him, although I think the main demo of 18-49 males see through this hype and don't buy it. Hell I think at The Bash, whether he was Japanese or not, had a sign that said "Jeff Hardy, U Suck." I honestly clapped for this guy. My feelings for Jeff started when he went over Undertaker at that one SD before his WWE title win, and progressively and gradually I have grown to hate Jeff Hardy equally or more to how much I hate Mark Henry. Underrated: Shelton Benjamin Do I really have to explain, it's been said countless times, from many people. The guy is talented and can show up ANY member of the WWE roster. My guess is he lacks motivation to go bigger and it reflects on the creative team not giving him much to go after. I'm not sure. His mic skills are average, charisma wise is something to look at, because it's not all good, but skillwise, pure athlete. |

Overrated - Michelle McCool Sucking dick, should not make you championship material. Just because you got Finlay or Malenko to help you work through the motions of the moves of real athletes somehow you end up being the first woman in WWE to hold both women's division titles (not that I ever condoned that ugly piece of shit, the Diva's title, anyway). I hold you solely responsible for Victoria departing the WWE because if it wasn't for her going downhill jobbing to your sorry ass week in and week out then she wouldn't have been subject to doing the same for even worse wastes of ring space like Maria and the Bellas. I honestly hope you suffer a serious injury that takes you out of action like when Candice Michelle broke her collarbone. The sooner the better because as long as WWE pushes sluts like you, the talent gets put on the back burner. ----- Underrated - Katie Lea Burchill People like the aforementioned are relegated to valet status while Kelly Kelly, Maria, Michelle McCool, Layla, Eve Torres and Alicia Fox get camera and ring time. Candice fucking Michelle held the Women's Title and she hasn't even so much as had a title shot, just like her kayfabe brother the WWE kills off any feuds she gets that could potentially put her in the limelight. Katie Lea is better than all of the last 4 women to hold either of the two titles but she hasn't even had a much for as long as I can remember and putting her on ECW is the official death of her career. Sadly, I wouldn't be surprised if both of the Burchill's get "future endeavored" before the year is out. Even as vile as it was I would have much rather Vince gone through with the "incest" angle that was planned when they were both on Raw because at least it would have been a step in the right direction TALENTwise |

~Overrated: Undertaker~ This is a controversial one I believe but a correct decision. While the Undertaker is THE living legend still in the business, his character, the storytelling, his promos, the same old stuff in the ring week in week out, should have been drastically updated years ago. The only time I really liked the Undertaker was in the 90s when his character transformed through the years to the American Bad Ass. While I was happy to see him bring the Deadman back it hasn't been the same and have never really taken a likening to it. There's no doubt the guy can put on a 5* once a year but he needs the right guy to do it with. Finally for him in the spot he is he should be wrestling in a more full time basis. It seems every year Taker comes and leaves for some reason and yet he main events WrestleMania and wins the big belts. If Taker can come back full time, develop his character some more and put on a few better matches then yes I will remove him from the Overrated section but until then, he stays. ~Underrated: Kane~ On the other hand you have the other B.O.D, Kane. Someone who creative have ruined their character since the turn of the millennium. While his age does go against him, Kane is often regarded as one of the best "boys" in the back, someone who understands everything and will help the young guys get over. He's also someone for his size that can do things you wouldn't expect. The Kane character has so much potential that it's unbelievable he could get fucked around the way he has yet Undertaker has gone from strength to strength. While I say Kane isn't as great as worker as Undertaker, he's far, far better than made out to be. |

^^I agree with pretty much all of what you said about the Undertaker. Truth is he's not got many more matches in him, so gotta put him in the most money-making fueds you can. Imagine WMXV without Shawn Taker!! That was a one-match card! I also think he's been the 'same' deadman for far too long. But since he only puts on stormers for the last few years, however sparse, is still fantastic. He's put over Edge, Orton, Batty etc etc, so I can't really give him guff....except Orton should've beat him at Mania. I think he should face Tripper again, and maybe get him back whenever Sting does a once off in WWE. Hopefully! Kane though, is a useless lump that has a depressing 3-Disc "best of" DVD... It's true he's been held back a good few times (I'm furious about his treatment in 2003, as well as his May 19th imposter gimmick, and again with the burlap sack angle) but the guy can't have an exciting match, in general. His best stuff was really from the Attitude Era, which passed a long time ago. What moves does Kane do that you wouldn't expect from a big guy? I reckon Mark Henry and Big Show could do a top-rope jumping clothesline if they had a re-inforced ring lol... So I can't blame him for walking through his matches for the last 6 years. But wow, he sucks. He's basically Mark Henry with an awesome gimmick. For the record, I felt Kane should've gotten the world title once or twice since his 1-day stint. ============ For the purposes of this, it's gonna be relative to the IWC. We know that Batista sucks, Cena sucks....so who does the IWC overlook? Most Overrated : Shelton Benjamin A darling of the IWC, Benjamin is usually brought up as a guy who has all the tools and can't get a break. The guy walks through his matches. He has no interest in bettering himself. He's perfectly content to be mid-card. Don't get me wrong, his half-assed matches are better than most wrestlers matches in WWE. But this guy can't put together a match. Sure, Morrison vs Benjamin at Judgment Day this year was a good match, but it really was spot-spot-spot with a few botches. No psychology, just a string of moves until the finish. To be fair, I don't blame him for collecting a pay-cheque. He does his job competently and gets paid well ($400,000+/year) so what's the point? He's terrible on the mic and doesn't really have a gimmick/catchphrase/character. So not much room to move up. Did you hear him singing on ECW last week? Was that supposed to be any good? No charisma. Has Benjamin ever had a great match besides that one against Shawn like 4 years ago? Shawn can make anyone look good. Most Underrated : Matt Hardy This guy can't catch a break. To be objective, he's not the most exciting wrestler, but he's more than decent on the mic. I think with the right gimmick, he can be fantastic! Remember his V1 gimmick circa WMXIX? Or calling out Goldberg? Or more recently, he cut an excellent promo on SD! around WM on his brother. He's got charisma. I think Matt suffers from "AJ Styles" syndrome, where WWE know he loves his company, and so they don't have to appease him in any sense. Why wasn't Matt elevated with Edge when he was fired and brought back? Shouldn't he have gone and fueded with Vince for firing him? Despite being so under-pushed for so many years, the fans are still behind him. He's got "it". And he deserves to be pushed in the main event bracket. On SmackDown. Those sharks on RAW won't put him over....but SD! would. Edited by jaykhunter, Aug 13 2009, 01:15 PM.

Overrated: Rey Mysterio. This guy has been pushed into the World Title picture time after time, he may have only won it once (unless I missed the others) but whilst this guy is good at flipping around the ring, he simply is just one of many others out there. There are thousands of guys in Mexico, TNA, the Indy's and across the water in Japan that could do pretty much everything Rey can do, yet instead of hiring these people (and when they do, people such as Psychosis, Shannon Moore and Wang Yang) they are cast aside or given crappy gimmicks instead of being allowed to show what they can do. Rey simply is just one more guy that can flip about the ring. In TNA alone there is; AJ Styles, Jay Lethal, MCMG (both), Kaz and Daniels are all on par or better than Rey. It baffles me that WWE haven't replaced Rey yet, he is easily replaceable, Rey is getting old and is injury prone, the only reason I can see that they keep Rey and hype him so much is because he sells a shed load of masks. Well, if WWE don't think they could market another high flier or another luchadore then the WWE marketing people must really suck. Underrated: Natalya. Normally, I don't care for woman's wrestling. It is often sloppy, botch filled and lacks any real technical knowledge. However, here is a woman that is good looking (seriously that helps in the WWE) has a great history of training in wrestling and has a name that people instantly recognize. Now I understand that she is The Hart Dynasty's manager/ valet at the moment but that doesn't mean she can't wrestle. Some of her matches were actually quite good before they simply stopped her wrestling and before that she was almost a jobber. Now I know she isn't size 0, which I honestly believe hampers her progress in the WWE which is pretty disgusting but she is (next to Katie Lea Burchill but someone already mentioned her) is the best wrestler in the woman's division. If the WWE are going to put Woman's wrestling on our TV screens at least book someone who is a good wrestler. |

His matches when he tagged with Moore were really enjoyable, he isn't a typical high flyer but read a couple reports about some of his work on the indy scene confirmed that he can take that role. His singles matches were often quite poor although most of them were him being squashed in the WWE. I wouldn't nessisarilly say he could take Rey's place but he could have been given push to allow him show his abilities. |

Overrated: John Cena, seriously he's not that great, On RAW this week you could tell Jericho practically executed some of Cena's himself, I've noticed Cena doesn't put as much "oomph" into his matches as he used to and he's had quite a few injuries so Cena may be a bit cranky, but the thing I'm most worried about is that when Cena's older some talent whom we all know could kick his ass, i.e. Jericho are always going to Major league job against Cena, It's atrocious Underrated: Beth Phoenix, She's awesome in the ring but it's a shame WWE has limited her to what she can do, she's involved in so many matches but never seems to make much impact, Don't get me wrong she's an excellent wrestler but I can't help feeling she's grossly misused, Rosa Mendez isn't a compliment to Beth however because if Beth needs to team with trash like Rosa then the WWE has Beth all wrong, I'd love to see a three way between Beth Phoenix, Mickie James & Gail Kim, I think that'd be awesome to watch |

Gerimah - C'mon man! Don't rate wrestlers if you've never seen them wrestle yourself! But I agree, WWE have a nasty habit of making sure some wrestlers never get over. They lumber them with a crappy gimmick, give them a crappy script, meticulously plan out a crappy match, and blame the wrestler why he isn't getting over
